Practical Workshops
Our small, practical workshops help you understand your dog and build useful skills together through force-free, evidence-informed learning that prioritises your relationship and your dog’s welfare.
Dog-present workshops run for up to two hours and suit dogs comfortable in small groups. Dogs experiencing significant reactivity or distress benefit from individual support first.
Calm, Cooperative Care
Handling, grooming and veterinary care are part of life, but they do not have to be something that simply happens to a dog. This workshop introduces cooperative-care principles that help dogs develop greater predictability, participation and confidence around everyday handling. Handlers learn how to observe body language, break procedures into achievable steps, build positive associations and introduce start/stop communication and choice wherever it is safe and practical to do so.
Give Your Dog a Job
Dogs are active participants in their world. Opportunities to sniff, search, explore, problem-solve and use species- and individual-appropriate skills can support engagement and quality of life. This workshop explores practical enrichment and meaningful “jobs” for dogs, including scent-based activities, nosework, food and environmental enrichment, problem-solving and ways to match activities to the individual dog.
Understanding Your Dog — Communication, Trust & Connection
Behaviour is communication. This workshop helps handlers notice the smaller signals that can be missed when we focus only on whether a dog is “doing the right thing”. We explore canine body language, emotional state, choice, consent, play, arousal, context and the ways our own responses can influence the relationship. Relational Awareness is introduced as a practical framework for becoming more curious, responsive and intentional in the way we relate to dogs.
