Supporting Dog Welfare and Professional Practice
Working with a dog in a therapeutic or professional environment creates a unique layer of responsibility. Practice Supervision provides a reflective, practical space for professionals to consider the wellbeing of the dog, the needs of clients, the working environment and the quality of the human–animal relationship.
This service is available to professionals working with therapy dogs or including dogs in therapeutic or professional environments, whether the team trained through Pack 4 Life Institute or another organisation.
Practice Supervision may explore dog welfare and body language; training challenges; agency, choice and consent; environmental demands, rest and recovery; professional boundaries; client–dog interactions; Relational Awareness in professional practice; practical problem-solving; and when further training, veterinary input or another form of professional support may be appropriate.
Individual and group sessions may be delivered in person or online depending on the purpose of the session and the needs of participants.
Practice Supervision is not a substitute for clinical supervision of a clinician’s human therapeutic practice.
